KICK-OFF BREAKING MEETING (11th Jan, 2021) : WP 6

An introductory meeting with all the partnering institutions was conducted virtually using video-conferencing. The meeting was attended by all the team members from each of the partnering institution. MOU SIGNING CEREMONY (1st & 2nd Feb, 2021) : WP 6

The project partnership agreement signing ceremony was conducted with 3 European, 3 Indonesian, 2 Sri Lankan and 3 Indian Partner institutions virtually. The event was graced by the Honorable Chancellor, LPU, Mr. Ashok Mittal; Rector, UNIC, Prof. Philippos Pouyioutas and Honorable Vice Chancellor, Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka, Prof. RMUSK Rathnayake. On the following day the partners responsible for WP1 (Preparation), WP4 (Quality control), and WP 6 (Management) presented and discussed about how the project will be implemented. Read more

Study Visit to European HEIs : WP 1

Due to COVID pandemic, the physical study visit to European HEIs were cancelled. However, the study visit was conducted online virtually where each European university presented their curriculum, teaching methodology, labs, participation, student engagement and outreach activities. The virtual study visit was conducted for 3 European Universities :

  • University of Nicosia, Cyprus
  • Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV), Spain
  • Universidade de Lisboa (UL), Portugal

EU-SPIRIT PROJECT WEBSITE LAUNCH CEREMONY (9 TH JUNE 2021): WP 5

Last year in December, LPU has rewarded a project from the prestigious European Commission to lead a consortium of 11 universities to research Sports Education in India, Sri Lanka and Indonesia under the Erasmus plus project. Since then, LPU and all its partner universities are engaged in numerous meetings to shape up the project and recently LPU, which is the lead partner university for this project, unveiled the website for the project through a virtual ceremony. More than 30 distinguished participants from the European and Asian partner institutions witnessed the virtual launching ceremony of the website. Survey and report with recommendation for implementation of SPIRIT curriculum package (July 2021) : WP1

With the defining and outlining demands for SPIRIT ideas in mind, workings team at each Asin partner HEI will conduct surveys among 15 sport centers, clubs and associations to get feedback on expected learning outcomes for students. Curriculum should match needs of sport centers and society. After analyzing the survey results, reports will be developed and submitted to USU and UNIC for further processing. Read more

Designing of training programs. (September 2021) : WP 2

The first phase of curriculum development consists of designing the training programs in function of local needs. 3 areas of development have been identified: Sport management, physical education and sport and nutrition. Course descriptors of 1 page with learning outcomes, learning objectives, course assessment, bibliography ECTS or comparable workload was identified for 12 modules by the work package leaders. International SPIRIT Conference 2021 (October 2021) : WP 5

In order to disseminate the project results, periodic newsletter was be published on a semester basis with easy access and open to all through the website can be downloaded by any person interested in the project. In addition, annual conference was conducted online with project management and development activities. SPIRIT days will be organized on 15th January 2022 by consortium partners as well as sport clubs locally to promote sport for inclusion. Read more

Training of selected teachers in Europe and Asia (October – December 2021) : WP 2

During the curriculum development training, the production of course descriptors and syllabi are taking place parallelly. 5 trainings of trainer’s program were scheduled in Asia and Europe. However, due to COVID pandemic physical trainings scheduled in Asia and in Europe has been postponed. In order to compensate for the time loss due to covid, the training is being carried out virtually via cloud video-conferencing platform, so that more teachers and specialists can benefit from the train-the-trainer sessions. Once, the traveling restrictions are removed the physical training will take place. TT1 in Medan on Sport and Nutrition I, TT2 in Peradeniya on Sport and Nutrition II, TT3 in Bangalore on Physical Education and Prevention of NCDs, TT4 in Valencia on Sport Management, and TT5 in Bogor on Sport and inclusive education.
