University Profile

The history of the University of North Sumatra (USU) begins with the establishment of the University of North Sumatra Foundation on June 4, 1952. The establishment of this foundation was pioneered by the Governor of North Sumatra to fulfill the desires of the people of North Sumatra in particular and the Indonesian people in general. The vision of Universitas Sumatera Utara is To become a university that has academic excellence as a barometer of scientific progress that is able to compete at the global level Closing the year 2019, the Chancellor of the University of North Sumatra expressed his gratitude for all of USU's achievements and performances which were deemed to have exceeded the set targets.

Especially with the increase in USU's ranking in the higher education ranks of the Ministry of Research and Technology version, which in 2018 was still ranked 15th in cluster 2, to rank 13 in cluster 1. This increase was the result of the hard work of all elements of USU's leadership and academic community. Scimago, as one of the world ranking institutions, has also placed USU in the 1st place for universities in Indonesia, after in the previous year, namely in 2018, USU was in 3rd place.

Prof. Dr. Dina Keumala Sari

Prof. Dr. dr. Dina Keumala Sari, M. Gizi, SpGK is a Teaching Staff of the Department of Nutrition and the Master's Study Program of Tropical Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Sumatera Utara, Medan, North Sumatra, Indonesia. She was born in Banda Aceh, on December 21st, 1973. Graduated as a Bachelor of Medicine and Professional Doctor Education Program as a doctor at in 1998 at the University of North Sumatra. Continuing the Clinical Nutrition Specialist Doctor Education Program at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Indonesia and graduated in 2007.

Then he graduated from the Doctoral program (S3) at the University of North Sumatra in 2013. Prof. Dr. dr. Dina Keumala Sari, M. Gizi, SpGK is active in research and community service activities with a focus on research on vitamin D and nutritional disorders of other tropical diseases. He is active in writing books and producing several patent products, as well as in publishing articles in national and international journals.
